This whole event, watching Hannah the hummingbird hatch and raise her baby Shelby, has been amazing to watch and photograph. For the last 3 weeks I've been going over to Tina and Fred's back yard to photograph the entire process of hatching and raising a baby hummingbird. I hope you enjoy the pics! I sure enjoyed taking them!<br />

Just after Shelby left the nest, Hannah was in a bit of what looked like a panic. She flew to the nest to find it empty, she circled the nest, then the tree, then to the bottom of the tree where Shelby flew to. After checking out the empty nest a couple more times she flew back to the tree where Shelby was and made her way quickly up the tree till she found Shelby calling for her. This was that meeting.

More wings testing. This went on for about a half hour, as I'm watching the sun go down. That explains some of the grainy pictures, I had to shoot at between ISO 1100 - 1600.

After stretching out hose wings she made her first leap, kind of, to the branch next to her nest... This was a big 1st 1/2 step!

This is the day Shelby leaves the nest. She perched on the edge of the nest so she could try out those new wings.
